Sri Lanka's Buddhist heritage is a vibrant tapestry woven with threads of ancient wisdom, profound devotion, and enduring artistic expression. From the arrival of Buddhism in the 3rd century BCE, the island has been a stronghold of Theravada Buddhism, preserving its teachings and traditions with remarkable continuity.  Magnificent temples, like the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy, stand as testaments to the deep faith of the people. Serene stupas, such as Ruwanwelisaya in Anuradhapura, dot the landscape, radiating peace and tranquility. Cave temples, adorned with exquisite murals and sculptures, like those at Dambulla, showcase the artistic brilliance inspired by Buddhist philosophy.  This rich heritage continues to shape Sri Lankan culture and identity, offering a spiritual haven for pilgrims and a fascinating glimpse into the island's past.
